5th International Silk Trade Fair

In order to promote Indian Silk Industry, Indian Silk Export Promotion Council (ISEPC) organized and International Silk Trade fair that is conducted 3 days silk trade fair from 15th October 2016 to 17th October. The Event was inaugurated by The Union Textiles Minister Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani. Speaking on the occasion the Minister stated that the Indian Silk Industry has a very bright future and all it need is a platform to promote itself in the Domestic and the International Market. The steps taken by ISEPC was also appreciated by the Minister.

The event started as a big success as it was registered by 110 exhibitors from across the nation who displayed wide range of silk and slik blended products. Various silk and semi silk products that were displayed were mainly garments, accessories, made-ups, carpets, sarees and interior decorative items of silk and silk-blend fibers, Furthermore over 100 buyers registered on the opening day and this endorses the success of the silk trade fair. A Japanese delegation of 26 buyers from Japan visited the trade fair mainly to source silk fabrics, accessories and garments and floor coverings.

Such events organized by ISEPC will leverage the exposure on Indian Silk Industry and will also provide a strong platform for various MSME ( Silk Industry). Owing to the success of the opening day ISEPC ia anticipating a gross revenue of over $50 million (USD) in 3days of the exhibition. To further assist and continue the growth momentum the council is also facilitating a Business to Business meeting from buyers and exhibitors and this will certainly boost the Indian silk Industry and the MSME engaged in this sector. A fashion show of Indian silk products, in the presence of esteemed buyers, has also been planned at the same venue.

About ISEPC

The Indian Silk Export Promotion Council (ISEPC) was set up in 1983 as a company not for profit under Companies Act duly sponsored by the Government of India in the Ministry of Textiles. The Council as on date has a membership of 655 regular exporters of Silk goods whereas more than 1800 exporters have registered with the Council.
ISEPC works closely with the Government of India on policy formulation concerning silk sector and provides specialized services to the entrepreneurs enlarging global business opportunities for the silk industry in India.
