For this, the Central Government is running 'National Rooftop Scheme' since 2014. At the same time, PM Narendra Modi has also recently announced 'Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana'. Under this scheme, the central government will install rooftop solar systems on one crore houses across the country.

According to the official website of the government, the project cost for a 3Kw plant is around Rs 1.26 lakh, out of which the government gives a subsidy of Rs 54 thousand. That means you will have to spend only about Rs 72 thousand to set up this plant. The estimated life of this plant is 25 years. According to this, you will have to spend only Rs 8 every day for electricity for 25 years. The price may also increase depending on the quality and other services of the solar panel.
