Farmers in India can benefit from Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana
Farmers can benefit from up to 90% subsidy through the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY).

Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana
Farmers often face significant difficulties with irrigation. Due to improper irrigation, crops are damaged, resulting in significant losses for farmers. Addressing this problem, the central government is implementing the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, which aims to provide water to every farm. The central government has allocated a budget of over ₹10 crore for this scheme, and farmers can receive up to 90% subsidy.

Launch of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana
This scheme was launched in 2015. Good farming depends on the amount of rainfall. Insufficient rainfall poses the risk of drought, while excessive rainfall poses the risk of floods. The primary objective of this government-run scheme is to prevent water wastage and ensure water access to every farmer's fields.

Operation of the Scheme
This scheme is jointly operated by the Ministry of Water Power and the Ministry of Agriculture. Under this scheme, the government encourages farmers to use drip irrigation technology, which saves 40 to 60% of water. Furthermore, using sprinklers also significantly saves water and increases crop yields.

How much subsidy is available?
Through this scheme, farmers can save between ₹20,000 and ₹50,000 annually, as this will save water, reducing farming costs and increasing their income. The scheme is mostly benefiting farmers in areas like Gujarat and Rajasthan, where farmers often face problems due to water shortages. Farmers can avail of up to 90% subsidy under this government scheme.

Small and marginal farmers can receive a subsidy of up to 90%, i.e. a maximum of ₹50,000 per hectare. Additionally, ordinary farmers can avail of a subsidy of approximately ₹40,000 per hectare, i.e. approximately 80%. Farmers must use the subsidy received under this scheme within two years, otherwise the subsidy amount will be withdrawn.

Apply for the Prime Minister's Agricultural Irrigation Scheme
If you also want to apply for this scheme, you can do so by visiting www.pmksy.gov.in or myscheme.gov.in. To apply, you will need your Aadhaar number and a registered mobile number. After entering all the necessary information for registration, farmers will need to select the area, machine, etc. The application will then be verified by the Agriculture Department, after which the subsidy amount will be transferred to the farmer's account via DBT.
